Department of Conservation

We are the government agency charged with conserving New Zealand’s natural and historic heritage.

NZ Landcare Trust

Established in 1996, NZ Landcare Trust is an independent charitable organisation. It is one of the only national, non-government organisations working with the land user community to encourage and support sustainable land and water management.

National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research NZ

NIWA, the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research, is a Crown Research Institute established in 1992. It operates as a stand-alone company with its own Board of Directors and Executive.

Landcare Research NZ

Landcare Research is one of seven Crown Research Institutes (CRIs) formed in 1992. CRIs function as independent companies but are owned by, and accountable to, the New Zealand Government.Landcare Research’s core purpose is to drive innovation in the management of terrestrial biodiversity and land resources.

Federated Farmes NZ

Federated Farmers is New Zealand’s leading independent rural advocacy organisation. The federation’s aim is to add value to the business of farming for our members and encouraging sustainability through good management practice.

AgResearch NZ

AgResearch’s purpose is to enhance the value, productivity and profitability of New Zealand’s pastoral, agri-food and agri-technology sector value chains to contribute to economic growth and beneficial environmental and social outcomes for New Zealand.

QEII National Trust NZ

Our mission is to partner with landowners to protect special places on private land for the benefit of present and future generations. Our vision is to inspire new protection and stewardship and to inspire New Zealanders to work with, and support us, to protect private land.

Forest and Bird

We are the voice for nature in our communities, to our city and district councils, to our regional councils, to central-government, and in our courts. No other organisation does this.

NZ Kiwi Foundation Aroha Island

Aroha Island has been lovingly restored by volunteers, and continues to be managed by the Aroha Island Charitable Trust. By staying here you will also be helping us to protect and enhance this special environment. If you love nature and have a desire to see some of the unique plants and birds of New Zealand, you’ll love your time at Aroha Island.

Wildlands Consultants

Wildland Consultants is a progressive ecological consultancy committed to providing high quality ecological information, advice and technical services to a wide range of clients. The company has a very strong focus on the planning and implementation of ecological restoration. Company staff are based in Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Rotorua, Whakatane, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin and work nationwide.

Native Forest Restoration Trust

The Native Forest Restoration Trust is dedicated to protecting New Zealand’s native forests and wetlands. Not just for today, but for generations to come. And we have achieved extraordinary things. Today, the Trust manages over 7,000 hectares of reserves, protected forever for all New Zealanders to enjoy.

Project Crimson

We work with organisations, schools, iwi, communities and individuals throughout New Zealand through our restoration and environmental education programmes, and we advocate for our hero species pōhutukawa and rātā.

Fish and Game

Fish & Game New Zealand manages, maintains and enhances sports fish and game birds and their habitats in the best long-term interests of present and future generations of anglers and hunters.

Genesis Power

Genesis recognises that it is no longer appropriate to simply address the effects of operations based on resource consent requirements. We are striving to create a more holistic approach to our environmental management, whilst still maintaining our commitment to the local community and we have committed to a variety of community initiatives which are intended to further reduce our footprint.

Mighty River Power

Through our long-standing partnership with the Waikato Catchment Ecological Enhancement Trust (WCEET), we’re helping to protect and enhance the ecology and biodiversity of Lake Taupo and the Waikato River.

The New Zealand Farm Environment Trust

The New Zealand Farm Environment Trust facilitates the annual Ballance Farm Environment Awards to showcase the nation’s environmentally responsible and profitable farmers while providing all entrants with information on best-practice management of their natural resources.

Join the Forum

Any individual, community group or organisation interested and committed to protecting and restoring biodiversity can be a member of the Forum. It is free to join. You will get an invite to Forum events and receive information on biodiversity workshops, useful biodiversity information, access to other members for sharing knowledge and ideas and help with restoration projects.
